Founded in 1949, the company is the Brazilian lead- er in the manufacture of bus bodies and is positioned among the largest manufacturers in the world. With a strong presence in the international market, Marcopolo S.A. exports coaches, city buses, minibuses and Volare branded vehicles, the Brazilian leader in the production of minibuses, to countries in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, such as Mexico, Peru, Argen- tina, Chile, United Arab Emirates, Ghana and South Africa. In this scenario, the company holds at least 30% market share in the countries where it operates, with Latin Amer- ica being the most relevant market. Currently, vehicles produced by the company run in more than 120 countries. The company has 11 factories, three in Brazil (two in Caxias do Sul/RS and one in São Mateus/ES) and the oth- ers in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Australia (3) and China. Marcopolo S.A. it also operates in the metro-rail seg- ment, through Marcopolo Rail, with the development and production of light rail vehicles (VLT). The operation in this segment seeks to contribute to the public manage- ment of mobility, the reduction of costs and tariffs, and the improvement of traffic flow in cities. For the future, the focus of Marcopolo S.A. is to continue with constant investments in innovation and technology to accompany the transformations in the mobility segment and main- tain leadership in the sector.
