Na conta também devem entrar 877 tratores pesados de pneus. is 67.8 thousand units, adding up machines in the yellow line, off-road trucks and other equipment for construction and mining, still below 2011, when the market hit 83 thousand 545. Mário Miranda, however, who coordinated the study and was a consultant with Sobratema, believes that the industry is prepared for higher growth. “The estimate is feasible, but it has a potential for bigger numbers. If demand was to be much higher, we should bear in mind that manufacturers need between 120 to 140 days to respond”, he remarks. The key factors to guarantee a new positive number for the sector are the expectation of an increase in demand in the different areas and more public works through the public-private partnerships, an increase in mechanization and more investments in areas such as mining and aggregates. The main concerns of the machinery for the roads construction sector are the smaller room for investments in infrastructure in the public budget, with the possibility of works interruption, cost overrun, and lack of confidence due to the economic scenario and deceleration of the global economy, a more competitive marketplace and scarcity of credit. The yellow line, formed basically by equipment for road works of large size, should consolidate sales of 41.7 thousand units in 2023, a growth rate of 4% and a new record, surpassing the 40 thousand units attained in 2022, which was already superior by 21% to 2019 and by 19.6% to 2013, when the sector reached its best year thus far, with 33 thousand units sold. The result was reached mainly by the expansion of agribusiness and mining, a higher degree of mechanization and infrastructure contracts. “The yellow line has been a pleasant surprise with solid growth”, stresses Mr. Miranda. Backhoe loaders, wheel loaders and hydraulic excavators generate almost two-thirds of sales of earthmoving equipment. Manufacturers hope, also, to sell 17.4 thousand off- road trucks, for an increase of 2% and ship an additional 7.8 thousand units of equipment for different uses, an increase of 8%. To top it off, 877 rubber tire heavy tractors should be shipped. Divulgação/CNH Industrial
