The objective is to stimulate the market into thinking about transportation in the future, for both urban and tourist travel. Founded in 1949, Marcopolo is a leader in man­ ufacturing bus bodies in Brazil and ranks among the largest manufacturers in the world. It is continually investing in improvements, in technology, in design and in expansion, producing solutions that con­ tribute to the development of collective passenger transportation and the future of mobility. Marcopo­ lo exports to 35 countries, considering road buses, urban buses, micro-buses and Volare buses, and has a business unit that is focused on micro-bus­ es. Today, Marcopolo-produced vehicles operate in over 120 countries. The company has seven factories, three in Brazil (two in Caxias do Sul, RS and one in São Mateus, ES) and others in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Australia and China. Marcopolo maintains solid operations interna­ tionally, exporting to countries in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, such as Mexico, Peru, Ar­ gentina, Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Ghana and South Africa. In this scenario, the company holds at least 30% market share in the countries in which it operates, Latin America being the most relevant market for its operations. Marcopolo also operates in the metro-railway sector and, in December of last year, it launched the first Light Rail Transit (LRT) vehicle from Marcopolo Rail. Operations in this sector seek to contribute to the public management of mobility, reducing costs and fees and improving traffic flow in cities. In the future, Marcopolo’s focus is to continue to invest continually in innovation and technology, offering to accompany transformations in the mobility sector and maintain its leadership in the sector.
