Economia paralisada, fábricas fechadas, mortes. Isolamento social, máscaras, água e sabão e álcool 70° passaram a ser as armas contra a pandemia que ainda hoje ataca a população global e a brasileira sempoupar idosos, jovens, ricos ou os menos favorecidos. É preciso reconhecer: a covid 19 causou, comefeitos ainda emcurso, amaior crise global da era moderna. Aomesmo tempo emque testemunhamos a luta pela sobrevivência das pessoas nas UTIs e das empresas em todos os setores, as ações para ajudar, de alguma forma, a amenizar os impactos da pandemia, mostraram que há esperança para que tudo, algum dia, volte ao normal. A proposta da quarta edição do Guia Automotivo é apresentar os caminhos que os líderes do setor automotivo estão enxergando emmeio a neblina e, também, reunir em um só lugar dados importantes sobre as empresas desta imensa cadeia que representa umquinto do PIB nacional. Publicado em português e inglês, a intenção é democra- tizar a informação das empresas e executivos com quem Você, nobre leitor, precisa se relacionar e fazer negócios. Temos convicção de que todos estão fazendo o me- lhor para manter a atividade industrial e a economia em movimento, garantir empregos e os investimentos para os próximos anos. Tudo indica que o desempenho da indústria automotiva este ano possa ser bemmelhor do que 2020. Mas vários fatores colocam em xeque essa expectativa: a chegada e a aplicação da vacina, uma segunda onda ainda mais devastadora, o negacionismo e a falta de ação do governo podem jogar contra nos próximos meses. Precisamos continuar atentos e perseverantes de que a incerteza, o nevoeiro ou uma leve neblina sairão do caminho ainda em 2021. Nobody could have guessed, when the last edition of the Brazilian Automotive Guide published the title reproduced above in this same space, what was yet to come. A stalled economy, plants shut down, deaths. Social isolation, masks, water, soap, and alcohol 70º all of a sudden became the weapons to be used in self-defense against the pandemic that to this day preys on the global and Brazilian populations, not sparing the elderly, the young, the affluent or the underprivileged. We have to recognize: Covid 19, still making giant strides, is the largest global crisis of modern times. As we witness the struggle for survival of people in ICUs and that of companies everywhere, the initiatives taken to somehow help soften the impact of the pandemic show us all that there is hope that, someday, everything will be back to normal. The task that the Brazilian Automotive Guide has taken upon itself is to present the paths that the leaders of the automobile business discern amid the fog and, also, to put together under one title the relevant data about this huge network of companies that represent 1/5 of the Brazilian GDP. Published in Portuguese and English, the concept is to make available to all the information concerning with whom, dear reader, you will interface and do business. We are persuaded that everybody is making their best to preserve the industrial activity and the economy moving, thus ensuring jobs and investments for the next years. All indications are that the performance of the automotive industry this year could be much more encouraging than in 2020. Nevertheless, several factors might threaten this forecast: the arrival of the vaccine and vaccination itself, an even more devastating second wave of the pandemic, widespread denial, and the lack of action by the government might score against the country’s interests in the coming months. We must continue to be alert and persevere, to make way, among uncertainty and the dark skies, for a brighter period still in 2021.
